it makes me irrationally angry when they change book covers when the movie comes out

I feel the same way. I intentionally try to shop for out of print editions with covers other than movie covers. Actually, I have never, nor do I ever intend to, purchase a book with a movie cover.

i have books with movie covers and the books are still the same and i’m still awesome

You are still awesome. Its like my irrational aversion to one or two other things…I know the book is the same, but I can’t make myself buy it.
